A 70-year-old Lebanese man remains trapped beneath the ruins of his home in southern Lebanon after days of bureaucratic delays from the US-led so-called 'ceasefire' monitoring mechanism, sparking intense domestic fury over restrictions on life-saving rescue operations.

Hamid Tawbe has been buried under the rubble in the town of Burj Qalaouiyah since Thursday morning, following a wave of intense Israeli airstrikes.

Despite frantic appeals from Tawbe’s family to the Lebanese army and international organizations, rescue teams have been forbidden from reaching the site. Under the terms of the current 'truce', which Israel has never abided by, emergency responders cannot enter areas targeted by Israel without explicit clearance from the US-chaired committee responsible for monitoring the 'ceasefire.'
