❗️Israeli blockade threatens to shut down central Gaza’s sole functioning hospital
The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah is on the verge of a total shutdown after multiple electricity generators failed and Israeli authorities blocked the entry of essential spare parts and specialized fuel. Hospital director Raed Hussein warned during a Sunday press conference that the facility has entered a "very dangerous" stage.
The breakdown of a fourth generator has already completely paralyzed the hospital's operating theaters, leaving critical departments like neonatal incubators, intensive care, and dialysis units at risk of shutting down within hours amid rising temperatures.
As the only government hospital in the governorate, the facility serves approximately 500,000 Palestinians, including thousands of forcibly displaced families. Engineering teams have been unable to repair the deteriorating equipment due to the ongoing Israeli siege, prompting Hussein to call on international organizations for an immediate direct power connection and new generators to prevent mass casualties.
Medical sources report that Gaza's healthcare system faces catastrophic conditions because Israel continues to violate the October 2025 truce by restricting aid, blockading medical supplies, and killing nearly a thousand Palestinians since the agreement was signed.
