❗️France calls emergency UN Security Council meeting over Israel’s occupation of Beaufort Castle
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced that France has requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after Israeli occupation forces said they seized Qalaat al-Shaqif (Beaufort Castle) in south Lebanon.
While acknowledging Israel’s right to "self-defense," Barrot said nothing justifies the continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon or Israel’s increasingly deep occupation of Lebanese territory.
