❗️Iran seeks FIFA clarity on World Cup visas after camp move to Mexico

Iran has requested that FIFA provide clarity on when World Cup visas will be issued after the team's training base was moved from Arizona to Tijuana, according to a senior official from the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) on Friday.

The national side recovered from a goal down to defeat Gambia 3-1 in a World Cup preparation match in Antalya, Turkiye. The victory came shortly after the relocation of their base camp to Mexico, a move approved by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and FIFA.

Mehdi Mohammadnabi, FFIRI's first vice president, told Reuters that the federation had contacted FIFA seeking a definitive update after previously submitting visa applications.

"We sent an email to FIFA today and asked them to announce the result as soon as possible, to say on what day the visas ‌will be issued, because we now need both multiple-entry Mexican visas and multiple-entry US visas," Mohammadnabi said.
