❗️Global economic institutions warn war on Iran is straining energy supplies
The leaders of the International Energy Agency, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and World Trade Organization cautioned on Friday that the US-Israeli war on Iran is putting pressure on global energy supplies and disproportionately harming vulnerable economies.
The institutions noted that while the global economy has remained resilient, the war is placing a heavier burden on poorer nations through rising fuel and fertilizer costs, greater economic uncertainty, and threats to employment.
"If shipping flows do not return to normal, continued rapid depletion of global oil inventories ahead of peak summer oil demand in the Northern Hemisphere would present increasing risks for fuel security, market conditions, and broader economic resilience," the institutions said.
