🇬🇧🇦🇪🇸🇩⚡️ — Sky is exiting its joint venture in Sky News Arabia amid criticism of the channel’s coverage of the war in Sudan and accusations that it downplayed atrocities committed by the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces, The Guardian reports.

Under a new agreement with UAE-based partner IMI — controlled by Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan — Sky will give up all operational and strategic ownership of the channel while allowing it to continue using the Sky News Arabia brand under a long-term licensing deal.

Critics and some Sky executives have accused the channel of acting as a public relations platform for the UAE-backed RSF.

Sudan’s government banned the channel last year after it aired a report from El Fasher claiming conditions had stabilized, despite ongoing executions and humanitarian concerns. The journalist behind the report is married to a senior official in the RSF’s parallel administration.
