Courage International has launched a petition addressed to the European Commission calling for protection for United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory Francesca Albanese, judges of the International Criminal Court, and human rights defenders facing US sanctions.

The petition urges the European Union to use legal measures to shield those targeted by the sanctions and ensure continued access to financial and institutional services.

Campaign organizers said the sanctions threaten the independence of international justice and undermine accountability efforts related to war crimes and serious human rights violations.
