The Gaza Center for Human Rights has voiced concern over the fate of ten activists who joined the Sumud Flotilla to the Gaza Strip and are being held in arbitrary detention in Libya.
According to the organization, the activists have been detained for eight days without contact with their families, while no reliable information has been made available regarding their legal status or health conditions.
The convoy, known as Sumud Maghreb 2, departed carrying humanitarian and medical aid for Gaza and included more than 200 participants from various Arab and Western countries. The initiative aimed to reach the Gaza Strip overland through Libya and Egypt.
The rights group said that Libyan security forces affiliated with the forces of retired General Khalifa Haftar detained ten participants on May 24 near the western gate of Sirte while they were traveling toward the Egyptian border.
