New York Magazine warns Trump-backed “Board of Peace” could eliminate Gaza

A report by Palestinian journalist Mohammed R. Mhawish argues that the Trump-backed “Board of Peace” is presenting Gaza’s future as a real estate and investment project while excluding Palestinians from decisions about their own land and future.

The report highlights plans promoted by Jared Kushner for luxury developments, tourism zones, and massive investment projects across Gaza, despite the Strip remaining devastated by genocide, displacement, destroyed infrastructure, unexploded ordnance, and a deep humanitarian crisis.

According to the report, the proposed framework would place enormous power in the hands of U.S. and Israeli officials while limiting Palestinian political representation.

The project risks turning Gaza into an economically dependent enclave, further separating it from the occupied West Bank and undermining prospects for genuine Palestinian self-determination and statehood.
