🪖💵 The true cost of US military operations in Latin America revealed
US military operations in Latin America and the Caribbean have cost at least $4.7 billion in eight months, a Brown University Costs of War analysis finds.
💸 Operation Southern Spear, the naval interdiction campaign against drug-trafficking vessels, accounted for $3.84 billion, marking the largest US naval concentration in the region since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Aircraft deployments added $616 million, while Operation Absolute Resolve, which culminated in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro cost $206 million, including 150+ aircraft and Special Operations forces.
Additional expenses for strike munitions and Special Ops forces reached tens of millions more.
