🇷🇺🇲🇱INTERVIEW: Russian MERCENARY in the "AFRICA CORPS" deployed in MALI. Part 3.
📍Question 6: When Kidal was lost in April, what exactly happened from your perspective? Was it an order from above, or did the situation spiral out of control?
From what I understand, the situation went from uncertainty to an organized withdrawal. According to the media, the Malian Minister of Defense was killed, and the President was out of contact for two days.
Our leadership, along with the FAMA command, made the decision to abandon Kidal. In reality, we had enough forces and resources to hold out for another 7 to 10 days. Furthermore, according to intelligence, the militants did not have enough ammunition for a prolonged siege.
📍Question 7: Were there times when you thought you wouldn't make it back? Did you feel genuine fear, or did the situation overwhelm you?
Yes, fear arises during clashes or bombings, especially when you lack the initiative and go from hunter to prey.
The key is knowing how to control that fear and not let it dominate you. Over time, it becomes a self-preservation skill.
When I worked at Wagner, there was a common phrase: "He who wets himself will die." I don't know if it translates well into Spanish.
📍Question 8: We've seen that rebels and jihadists use drones in their attacks. What's it like to face that on the ground?
Yes. In the attack on Anefis on March 30, an FPV drone with fiber optics was used.
They also often attack our columns with this type of drone, because we easily detect and neutralize radio-controlled drones.
This becomes a constant exercise in mindfulness and visual acuity.
