An Iranian state media report says that a still-unofficial draft understanding between Iran and the U.S. would give Iran greater control over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, including the ability to classify, inspect, and potentially restrict vessels it deems threatening.
The draft also reportedly includes a U.S. commitment to help release $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets within 60 days.
However, the report stresses that the text is not final and remains under negotiation.
