Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced that he does not accept the preliminary results of the country's presidential election, arguing that the ongoing vote-counting process lacks sufficient legal validity and transparency.
According to statements reported by Reuters, Petro said the initial tally does not carry binding authority and that its findings do not constitute a definitive basis for determining the election outcome.
The Colombian president described the preliminary count as being managed by the private company Thomas Greg & Sons, which he referred to as the entity responsible for processing the first-round results.
Petro raised concerns about the integrity of the vote-counting system, claiming that software used for the electoral process had undergone multiple modifications in recent days. He stated that algorithms and auditing mechanisms that should have remained stable were altered three times during the past week.
