Speaking to Iranian state television, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Shura Council, stressed that Tehran does not view itself as being in a position of weakness in its dealings with the US.

He added that while Washington has retreated on certain occasions, its shifting and inconsistent positions make it difficult to draw definitive conclusions about its approach to negotiations.

Addressing recent regional developments, Rezaei described operations in the Gulf as a preemptive move by Iran, warning that any attempt to impose a blockade would not go unanswered. He added that military matters remain the responsibility of Iran’s armed institutions.

Rezaei also reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon, saying Tehran would not abandon the country and emphasizing that Lebanon holds the same strategic importance for Iran as Iran does for itself.
