In a tweet on X, French President Emmanuel Macron said he held talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, conveying the same message to all of them: that it is essential for an agreement between the United States and Iran to be reached quickly and that this opportunity must be seized now.
Macron stressed that the immediate priority should be securing a ceasefire and the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law. He added that negotiations should then continue toward a comprehensive and robust agreement.
He said France stands ready to play its full role by helping restore maritime traffic through the independent multinational mission established with the United Kingdom, supporting nuclear discussions with its expertise and capabilities, and contributing to the establishment of a regional security framework alongside partners whose security it has helped safeguard in recent months.
Regarding regional stability, Macron said it must begin with Lebanon, where it is urgent for all weapons to fall silent permanently. He stated that nothing justifies the major escalation currently taking place in southern Lebanon and affirmed that France will continue supporting the Lebanese authorities in their efforts to restore state sovereignty and preserve the country's territorial integrity.
