Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Mehdi Rahimi, head of the Iranian Parliament News Agency, said that US President Donald Trump is staging a performance, affirming that Iranian officials have stated that no understanding has been reached yet.

He added that Trump has no option other than reaching an agreement in order to break the war deadlock.

Rahimi stated that if the two conditions set by the Iranians, the release of frozen assets and a halt to the war in Lebanon, are not met, there will be no agreement.

He stressed that the Iranians are firmly and seriously maintaining their position.

Rahimi also noted that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is no longer what it was before the war.
