New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he will not to attend the "Israel Day Parade", becoming the first sitting mayor to miss the event since 1964.
He said he had already made it clear during his campaign that he would not take part in the parade and had been open about his position regarding the Israeli government.
Mamdani added that, as mayor, his responsibility is to protect all New Yorkers equally, ensuring their safety and security regardless of his personal attendance at public events.
